Woo double post since i'm bored =/
Heh since some dude said i was being too personal >=(
i shall be keeping it professional
owh before my crap
Any1 who ever thought of going to taylor's but never really got the final push please go and teman me =D
M'kae anyway since Po Ee was asking me bout pre-u stuff and i was quite knowledgeable at it i thought i'd type out the differences in the courses over here for ur convenience ;]
Ahem, I may be wrong but i think i'm mostly rite =/
South Australian Matriculation (SAM)
This program lasts 1 year and is less exam-ly inclined, meaning that your final results do not depend only on your final exams. As far as i know i think its 50/50 between your exams and course works and projects and stuff. You'll get marks for your project works and at the end of the year it is added to your exam marks to get ur final uber marks.
I hear lots of ppl saying that this program is good because of
i) its short duration
ii) lesser stress (see, only 50% of your marks come from exam so if u know u've done well in your other stuff over the year u'l feel more relaxed)
iii) its cheaper price
The overall price for SAM averages to about 20k
A- Levels
This program lasts 1 1/2 years or 18 months. Now, the lady was saying A lvls was a total waste of time and that i should be doing SAM. Besides that, A lvls is more (if not 100%) exam orientated. This program is basically like what we've been doing in school. We study our bums off and at the end of the course u have a final exam and that's that.
Well, for the ppl who think they can study study and mayb are less sociable and cant talk really well maybe this is the course for u, or u just wanna waste some time ;]
BUT >=( 'not sociable and dislike talking' is a crappy excuse. Well, i know since i was a shy kid back in the form 2/3 years and i really was scared to talk to ppl much. If u go to SAM ther'l be presentations almost every week and i believe that will help with your public speaking skills which is IMPORTANT for your future. Correct me if i'm wrong tho i dont know much bout A lvls =/
Plus, since its longer the course is naturally more expensive than matriculation.
Foundation
I think that ppl who follow this course are great people ;]
If you dont know what foundation is, it is basically a course where you specialize in a field - meaning that you already know what you want to do in life and you dont waste time learning general studies in the other pre-u courses (SAM, A lvls).
Lets say, if you're sure you wanna become a lawyer you can do a foundation in law and you can skip all the unrelated subjects like Maths? =O i think.
p/s: any irrational or deranged deceisions made based on this post will not be faulted or blamed on me ;D
Until next time.
