Guide on Addmaths project (conclusion)

Credit goes to Justin Leong, he really used all his effort to make this guide. So thank him. :)

Guide starts below.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Okae... I've done my addmaths folio based on what I think and it may not be correct so if you plan to follow me I will not be held responsible? =]
(The table Mr Ragu did and passed to me was not correct [I think he divided the wrong stuff])

1. PLEASE dont be so lazy and just copy the values of tables in the screenshots i may put in here.

2. I'm going to put this part (tables and graphs) as my conclusion rather than putting it in my part 2 because in my part 2 I'm sure all of us have done the table in terms of Pi?, and we wouldn't want to screw the whole part 2 so i'll be putting mine in conclusion.

3. We DO NOT have to do this for part 2 (c), part 2c only asks us to prove so I don't think we need to do it. We only need to do the table and graphs for part 2a and 2b.

4. In the table in 2a, the value of d1 SHOULD be smaller than d2, .
And in 2b it is d1 is smaller than d2 which is smaller than d3 ,

Step 1: Fill in the first row wit your descriptions.

d1 (cm)

d2 (cm)

PQR

PAB

BCR

PQR/PAB

PQR/BCR

PAB/BCR

Step 2: Now, fill in all the values of d1 you have. [remember d1 is smaller than d2, d1=( ]

d1 (cm)

d2 (cm)

PQR

PAB

BCR

PQR/PAB

PQR/BCR

PAB/BCR

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4
Now in ur excel, u click the first box for d2 (if you're following me right the coordinates thingy should be B2. And you should be following me so from now on i will refer to the boxes using their coordinates stuff)

Double click it and enter '=10-a2' . When you are done press enter. Right now your B2 value should be 9 if your d1 is 1 (just put =10-a2 . plz dun copy the ' )

Now, click on the B2 box and click the small box at the btm right and drag it down.

Step 3: For PQR which is the big semicircle with diameter 10cm (use the formula 1/2 x pi x d)

In the C2 box, type '=Pi()*5

( if you need to know why... * is the symbol for times and it is 5 because the diameter is 10/2 so i've already done it for u dun complain ty)

Now, you WILL (not should) get a value of 15.70796, because all of us are starting with d1= 1 and d2=9. For your box in C2. Now. drag the thing again (like just now). Drag it down and your whole column should have the same value = 15.70796

Step 4: For your PAB. Click D2 and enter '=Pi()*a2/2'. Your value should be 1.570796
(Drag the whole thing down again, to apply the formula to all your values. NOTE: For the next steps drag all the things down, i'm tired of repeating it.)

Step 5: For your BCR. Click E2 and enter '=Pi()*b2/2' .
Your value should be:
14.13717

Step 6: For PQR/PAB. Click F2 and enter '=c2/d2' (because c2 is under PQR and d2 is under PAB.). It should be 10.

Step 7: For PQR/BCR. Click G2 and enter '=c2/e2'. It should be 1.111111

Step 8: For PAB/BCR. Click H2 and enter '=d2/e2'. Value should be 0.111111

NOTE: All the values is for d1 = 1 and d2 = 9. You can get the value for the whole table when you DRAG it down.

Right, your table for 2a is done. Now, for the graph.

How to do graph~

Step 1: Highlight the column that you want to make a graph. In this case, you are making graphs for PQR/PAB, PQR/BCR and PAB/BCR.

First, highlight the PQR/PAB column.

Step 2: You can click the 'chart wizard' button or if you cannot find it go to 'insert' and click 'charts'

OR

Step 3: Click the 'XY (scatter)' and then click the top right picture. Then, click FINISH. (dont be so smart and click 'next' 'next')

AND THEN

Step 4: The graph will come out... tada~ and now u can do whatever you want with it.

Yaay XD

Step 5: REMEMBER you have to do graphs for PQR/BCR and PAB/BCR also, so repeat the steps and do the same to get your graphs.

Ending Words.
Okay, that's it for the TABLES and GRAPHS. Since everyone is bising-ing me in msn 'when is it gona finish' ' faster laaaa', i'm ending this post. REMEMBER to do your part 2b.

Part 2b~
For 2b, your first row should have the following descripts:

d1

d2

d3

PQR

PAB

BCD

DER

and

PQR/PAB

PQR/BCD

PQR/DER

PAB/BCD

PAB/DER

BCD/DER

It IS in one line but just that i did it horizontally coz its soo long =]
You should have 6 graphs for 2b.
So, just do the same with the tables and graphs.
